Utility:
XERASE.COM |
What it does
Use xErase to remove (delete) files and
directories and retain directory attributes.
Why xErase? I have Del. The four
main reasons:
- xErase prompts you before removing
files.
- xErase removes files or directories
matching the user's archival attribute selectionset or
unset; for example, to remove a batch of files with the
archive attribute set. Unlike
SpartaDOS' erase (del) command, it does not clear or modify a files
attributes byte when removing files or
directories. If you need to recover a batch of files,
it is easier if they all have their archive attribute set (or unset),
this way you may use UnDelete in
archival mode when selecting a batch of files you wish to recover
(see UnDelete).
- Remove (/RD) empty directories as
well as files.
- xErase does not use XIO #33 to delete
files, as such, it does not suffer from the expanded-directory-error bug (see
the DelTree and SpartaDOS X section on the Delete
Tree page
for complete details).
